William Hassard & Frederick Love
Two Protestant building workers, were killed by the Irish Republican Army (IRA) in Belleek, County Fermanagh. The two workers had been carrying out repairs at Belleek police station.
Tuesday 4 August 1998
Dissident Republicans carried out an attack on a police patrol outside an Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC) station in Lurgan, County Armagh.

Manager of Andersonstown Social Club. Shot as he was leaving the club premises, off South Link, Andersonstown, Belfast.

It was a very very sad day when two workmen where gunned down Frederick love who was a very close uncle of mine also William hassard a relative of Fred as he was called two men went to school and grew up together and shot together and buried same church killed doing the job they loved and deciated to do still sadly missed and always remembered forever in my thoughts Fred niece Kathleen love.

Thanks for your comments and its great that your uncle and William’s memory live on through you and all their family and friends. Sadly far too many innocent people died as a result of the “Troubles ” and through my blog I try and make sure that people don’t forget the innocent victims and commemorate the anniversary of their senseless murders. Thankfully the darkest days of the “Troubles” are behind us and the children of Northern Ireland today don’t have to live through the madness that people of my generation witnessed .
