There were no  significant events on the 26th of December during the 30 years span of the troubles. Unfortunately the brief Xmas peace was over and two people lost their lives on the 26th December between 1973 – 1976

Today is the anniversary of the death of the following  people killed as a results of the conflict in Northern Ireland

There are many things worth living for, a few things worth dying for, but nothing worth killing for.

George Hyde,  (19)

Protestant
Status: Ulster Defence Association (UDA),

Killed by: non-specific Loyalist group (LOY)
Found beaten to death in Loyalist compound, Long Kesh Prison, County Down. Alleged informer.

26 December 1976
Paul Kerr,   (23)

Catholic
Status: Civilian (Civ),

Killed by: British Army (BA)
Died three days after being shot, while involved in a burglary at a house, Granville Road, Dungannon, County Tyrone.
